The next-gen Mercedes-Benz SL-Class has been spotted on the roads more than once – watch the video for an earlier episode – but this latest bunch of photos tells us quite a few new details. Among other things, it appears that the luxury model gets to keep its usual body dimensions, including an elongated hood and a short rear end.

The new SL model has been handed over to Mercedes-AMG, and it shares its platform with the AMG GT. The engine range will be more restrained than that of the GT, of course, but a hybrid powertrain should emerge later on based on the stock four-liter gasoline V8.

Mercedes-Benz sold a total of 28,400 sports cars last year, surpassing the year 2018 by a healthy 48%. AMG GT sales were responsible for the most profits, however, while the old SL-Class barely sold because customers expected the new SL to ship soon.
