The Kamiq is the Czech automaker’s smallest crossover SUV to date, but things will change when the new affordable model comes out aimed at the Indian market. Like all other Skoda SUVs, this one will get a name beginning with a K and ending in a q. The company has recently registered trademark rights for a “Kliq” in India, so this must be it.

The urban daily driver looks inspired by the Vision IN Concept that debuted at the auto show in New Delhi in February this year. It is 4.26 meters long and uses the platform known as the MQB-A0-IN, essentially a variant of the VW MEB adapted for India.

Customers will be able to choose between a 1.0-liter gasoline turbo engine worth 110 PS and its 1.5-liter counterpart capable of 150 PS. Transmissions will include six-speed manual and seven-speed DCT, but the drive will stay on the front axle.

It is unknown whether the alleged Skoda Kliq will ever be available outside of its home market. Production should begin in mid-2021, and prices will likely hover in the range of 10-12 Rs Lakh.
