Mercedes is aiming to keep at least one of its best-sellers looking both elegant and sporty, and that’s the upcoming all-new W206 C-Class. It will feature similar styling traits as the larger E and S-Class, yet might be even more engaging to look at thanks to its more compact dimensions tightening all the lines and creases. Same goes for the Estate model, which can be seen here sporting way less camo than before.

The W206 C-Class will be available as a sedan, wagon and in All-Terrain spec, which is still a wagon, albeit a jacked-up one. So do these latest images shine a light on how the latest C-Class Estate might compare visually to rivals like the 3-Series Touring and A4 Avant? Yes and no. The sleek design, high shoulder line and AMG styling kits speak volumes and make these prototypes stand out. They would undoubtedly look very “competitive” next to any direct rival. On the other hand, the C-Class Estate has never been the best-looking model in its segment, at least not for the past 2-3 generations.

While it’s hard to draw any conclusions regarding the tailgate, those lights at the back do seem more angular than every before, which should make for a more aggressive aesthetic. Inside, the 2022 C-Class will feature an S-Class-like display setup, with free-standing digital gauge cluster and a portrait-style infotainment screen – all powered by the latest MBUX software.

As for powertrains, pretty much every unit should feature a 48-volt EQ Boost mild-hybrid system, except of course for the actual plug-in hybrids. The all-new Mercedes-Benz C-Class will be unveiled in the coming months.
