Nissan has just unveiled the Note Play Gear Concept online in union with the 2021 Tokyo Auto Salon, which was canceled due to COVID-19 concerns. It is based on the new Note e-Power, which was introduced back in December. Key features include a sporty aerodynamic kit (spoiler, skirts, diffuser), 17-inch alloy wheels, as well as a roof box for added practicality.
The exterior has a matte grey finish and
rose gold highlights found not just on the aero kit, but also the wheels, lower
door panels, front fascia, hood, side mirrors, roofline, and rear fascia. The
model inscription has also been done in this color. At this time, it’s unclear
whether or not Nissan will actually go forward and offer this type of
customization for the all-new Note, or if this is just a design exercise. If we
had to guess, we’d go with the former though, since this certainly wouldn’t be
the first Note to get sporty accessories.
Looks aside, the concept utilizes the
carmaker’s e-Power electrified unit featuring two electric motors (one per
axle) that deliver an AWD setup. Meanwhile, a 1.2-liter naturally aspirated
three-cylinder engine works as a range extender that recharges the battery,
while regenerative braking is available for recuperating and storing energy.
Buyers can currently choose between two
Note e-Power grades in the S Four and X Four, priced from 2,288,000 yen
(US$ 22,106) and 2,445,300 yen (US$ 23,626) respectively. As for the all-new 2021
Note 2WD model, it kicks off from 2,029,500 yen (US$ 19,609) in base ‘S’ trim.
