It’s hard to believe the Mercedes A-Class is already three years old, but that’s clear today as the company has begun testing a facelifted model. Caught in the early stages of development, this prototype doesn’t really stand out. However, it features a revised grille that is hidden beneath black camouflage.
While there isn’t much to see, the
radiating circular mesh pattern will be replaced by a more conventional design
with horizontal slats. We can also see a prominent sensor, which will be
covered by a star logo on the production model.
There doesn’t appear to be any other
changes, but the facelifted A-Class will likely feature the usual styling
tweaks. This means we can expect modified bumpers and revised lighting uniting.
The model could also benefit from some interior updates, but details are
elusive. That being said, we wouldn’t be surprised to find an updated
infotainment system as well as revised upholstery and trim.
Engine options also remain a mystery, but
they could carryover. If that’s the case, we can expect an assortment of
diesels with outputs ranging from 114 hp to 190 PS.
There could also be petrol variants ranging from an entry-level A160 with 108
hp to a high-performance A45 S developing 415 hp. If that wasn’t enough variety, the A250e plug-in hybrid should continue to
be available as well.
