The Mazda CX-8 has been updated in Australia for the 2021 model year with the introduction of two new variants dubbed the Touring SP and the Asaki LE.
Sitting at the top of the 2021 CX-8 range
is the new Asaki LE featuring a six-seat layout just like the available
‘Captain’s Seat’ setup as the larger CX-9. The cabin of this variant is bathed
in quilted Nappa leather seat upholstery available in Chroma Brown or Pure
White. Further adding to the luxurious appeal of this model is a large console
between the second-row seats and complete with two cup holders, USB charging,
and buttons for the heating and ventilated functions.
Powering the CX-8 Asaki LE is a 2.2-liter
turbocharged diesel engine with a six-speed automatic transmission and an
i-Activ AWD system. The second variant introduction for the 2021 model year is
the Touring SP. This variant can be fitted with either a 2.5-liter petrol
front-wheel drive powertrain or the same 2.2-liter turbocharged i-Activ AWD
system as the Asaki LE and other CX-8 variants. Differentiating the Touring SP
from other models are unique black metallic 19-inch alloy wheels, black across
the front grille and mirror caps, and a Black Maztex / Black Grand Luxe
synthetic suede combination upholstery with red stitching. Other features
include black interior trimmings and ten-way power adjustment for the driver’s
seat.
A multitude of other CX-8 variants are on
offer in Australia. The range starts off at AU$ 39,990 (US$ 31,296) for the Sport
Petrol FWD and tops out at AU$ 69,920 (US$ 54,719) for the flagship Asaki LE
Diesel AWD.
