If the reveal of the Jeep’s brand spanking new Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer got you excited for the prospect of owning one, we’ve got good news. You can already pre-order and do a little bit of configurating to your next SUV.
Available through Wagoneer’s reservation
website, the basic configuration tool lets you pick between a Grand and an
ungrand Wagoneer, before moving to your trim level, exterior and interior color
palettes, and your nearest dealer from whom you will make the reservation.
Once all that is selected you have to put
down a (refundable) US$ 500 deposit and you get a rough idea of how much the base
MSRP of your selected trim is. Just beware of the sticker shocker when it comes
to the Grand, as you’re looking at a starting price of US$ 89,000 versus the
same-size, but less lux Wagoneer that kicks off from a slightly more digestible US$ 60,000.
Starting in March of this year, which my
astrologist tells me is already here, your selected dealer will get in touch
with you to complete the ordering process. Then, deliveries begin this summer,
though Jeep warns that deliveries of these early models may extend into 2022.
So best not to make any plans around your new Wagoneer.
As we covered yesterday, the new Wagoneer
comes standard with a mild-hybrid 5.7-liter V8 making 392 hp hooked up to an
8-speed transmission. The Grand Wagoneer, on the other hand, comes standard
with a 6.2-liter V8 making 471 hp and 455 lb-ft of torque. With 10,000 lbs of
towing capability, the Wagoneer will likely be the one you want if you’re
looking for toughness, whereas the Grand Wagoneer will be the one that you’re
looking for if you’re interested in luxury and don’t mind blowing some cash
away.
