The Cupra Leon is now officially on sale with the 2.0-liter TSI petrol engine in the UK. The turbocharged four-cylinder puts out 300 PS and 400 Nm of torque, identical to the latest Volkswagen Golf GTI Clubsport, and drives the front wheels through a DSG transmission.
With 5.7 seconds required for the 0 to 100
km/h acceleration and a 250 km/h top speed, performance is
on par with its German cousin. Offered in two trim levels, the range kicks off
with the £ 35,660 (US$ 50,235) VZ2, which comes £ 1,555 (US$ 2,190) shy of the
Golf GTI Clubsport. This model is offered with sporty bumpers, quad exhaust
pipes, 19-inch black and silver alloy wheels and black brake calipers.
The cockpit features a pair of bucket
seats up front, a leather-wrapped flat-bottomed steering wheel with paddle
shifters, copper and chrome trim, 10-inch infotainment system, navigation,
Mirror Link, wireless Apple CarPlay and wired Android Auto, four USB-C charging
ports, digital dials, ambient lighting, illuminated door sills, three-zone
climate control, reversing camera, keyless entry and go, and cruise control
with speed limiter.
Pricing for the VZ3 version of the Cupra
Leon starts at £37,390 ($52,670). The VZ3 gets different 19-inch alloy wheels,
leather upholstery, heated front seats with power adjustment for the driver,
heated steering wheel and wireless charging pad for compatible smartphones.
Customers can specify one of the seven colors, a panoramic sunroof, two nappa leather
interiors (for the VZ3 only) and three levels of the Safety and Driving Pack as
options.
