The upcoming electric crossover from Genesis has been spied testing with less camouflage than ever before. This single image of the car was recently shared online by The Korean Car Blog and shows the vehicle without the same black body cladding as other recent prototypes. The vehicle, codenamed JW, will share mechanical similarities to the Ioniq 5 and forthcoming Kia EV6 but will have a unique design.

The new Genesis is noticeably smaller than the GV70 SUV and has a unique rear end with angular quad taillights and a sloping roofline. Other prototypes have revealed the vehicle will also feature steeply raked A-pillars and angular front-row side windows.

Underpinning the Genesis, which could be dubbed the GV60 when it hits production, will be the same Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) as the Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6. This platform is rear-wheel drive based but we suspect the Genesis model will be sold exclusively in all-wheel drive form better fitting of its standing as the most premium of the three EVs. It should be good for roughly 500 km on a single charge and may offer wireless charging.

Our sources suggest that the forthcoming Genesis JW will have a spacious interior complete with all the latest technologies one would expect, including wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a digital car key, and a touch controller with handwriting recognition and cloud-based voice recognition. We’ve even heard that side-view cameras could be offered as an option in place of traditional mirrors.
