Fiat has teased a new crossover, ahead of its launch in Brazil later this year. Dubbed Project 363, the company is calling the crossover one of their most important launches of 2021 and the “most anticipated SUV of the year.”
The latter is a bit of a stretch, but the
company released a teaser video showing the crossover taking shape at their
South American design center in Betim, Brazil. As you can see, the model will
have an upright fascia with large air intakes and what appears to be slender
headlights. There’s also a sculpted hood, prominent shoulder lines and
pronounced wheel arches.
While Fiat is staying tight-lipped, the
model could be a crossover coupe that will compete with the Volkswagen Nivus.
Furthermore, spy photographers are suggesting the mysterious ‘high-riding
sedan’ that was spotted last week, and once again today, is actually a
prototype for the upcoming crossover.
That remains unconfirmed, but it’s
certainly a possibility as the ‘trunk’ looks suspicious and the whole rear end
could be elaborate camouflage. It’s also worth mentioning that Fiat has a
history of disguising prototypes as something else entirely as they have
previously dressed up pickups as crossovers.
Little is known about the model at this
point, but speculation suggests it could be equipped with 1.0- and 1.3-liter
engines. Of course, we won’t have to wait much longer to find out as the
vehicle will be introduced later this year.
