The 2021 Skoda Kodiaq will be officially unveiled on April 13, and in the meantime, the Czech automaker has released another teaser that previews some of its changes. The clip is only 20 seconds long and shows the facelifted mid-size SUV in a dark background, with a focus on the redesigned headlights and taillights.
Besides the lighting units, other things
that will help differentiate it from the outgoing model will be the new front
bumper that features a wider lower air intake with L-shaped trim below the fog
lamps. Previous teaser images have also revealed a more upright grille and
redesigned hood and metal accents, while the spy shots have shown that the
brand’s logo will be replaced by the ‘Skoda’ lettering in the middle of the
tailgate.
We don’t expect the 2021 Kodiaq to feature
radical changes inside, as the dashboard design should carry over. Nonetheless,
it might incorporate a new infotainment system and digital instrument cluster,
though there is also the possibility of simply updating the software. New
upholstery and trim will probably round out the makeover.
The Czech sibling of the Volkswagen Tiguan
and Seat Tarraco will reportedly launch with the usual petrol and diesel
engines and all-wheel drive for the upper specs. The RS flagship variant will
supposedly retain the 2.0-liter bi-turbo diesel that’s good for 237 HP and 500 Nm of torque in the current model.
