Ken Block will race a specially-prepped Subaru WRX STI in six of the seven remaining rounds of the 2021 American Rally Association championship. After ending his long-standing tie-up with Ford earlier this year, Block is now a free agent and will take a trip down memory lane rallying a WRX STI for the first time since 2009.
Block’s co-driver will be Alex Gelsomino
while his Subaru Motorsports USA teammates will include Travis Pastrana/Rhianon
Gelsomino and Brandon Semenuk/John Hall.
Block first raced an Impreza WRT STI at
the Sno*Drift Rally back in 2005. He remained a fixture of Subaru Rally Team
USA and was a teammate of Pastrana until 2009 before signing up with Ford.
During this time, Block won 10 U.S. rally victories, two X Games medals, and
secured a trio of top-three finishes in the Rally America driver’s
championship. Block also made his World Rally Championship debut with Subaru.
In a video showcasing his new Subaru rally
car, Block reveals that he will also race a Porsche 911 in this year’s East
African Safari Classic Rally and race the Baja 1000 in a trophy truck.
