A handful of updates have been made to the MINI John Cooper Works for the 2022 model year. Modifications made to the ever-popular hot hatch start at the front where the grille has grown in size and now extends further down and encompasses a pair of large air intakes. Other changes made to the exterior of the MINI John Cooper Works include model-specific side scuttles on the front side panels and a new diffuser at the rear.
Continuing to power the hot hatch is a
2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 231 hp and 320 Nm of torque. As standard, the MINI JCW comes with a six-speed manual transmission
sending power through the front wheels and can hit 100 km/h in 6.3
seconds. If purchased with the optional 8-speed Steptronic Sport transmission,
this figure drops to 6.1 seconds.
Complementing the punchy engine is a
unique exhaust system with 85 mm stainless steel tailpipes. Other standard
features of the 2022 model include four-piston front brake calipers with
internally ventilated discs and red calipers at the rear.
As standard, the JCW benefits from unique
sport suspension over regular MINI models but customers can now opt for a new
version of the car’s Adaptive Suspension system that features frequency-selective
damper technology with an additional valve that smooths out peaks within the
damper when driving over minor bumps. Fitted as standard to the car are 17-inch
light-alloy wheels although optional 18-inch shoes are available with a John
Cooper Works Circuit Spoke two-tone design.
Customers can also opt for the John Cooper
Works Trim package that adds exterior and interior surfaces in piano black,
Dinamic/leather upholstery in Carbon Black, and a higher-quality paint finish.
Customers can order their 2022 MINI JCW in either Chili Red, Rebel Green,
Rooftop Grey, or Island Blue Metallic.
Some minor updates have been made in the
cabin, including the fitment of a new 8.8-inch infotainment screen with BMW’s
latest operating system.
