Renault continues testing the second generation Kadjar, which is expected to launch in Europe next year as the French sibling of the all-new Nissan Qashqai and North America’s 2022 Rogue Sport. Caught in Sweden by our spy photographers, this prototype’s design was hidden beneath heavy camo. Nevertheless, we can see that the headlights are much slimmer and that the diamond logo, that sits on what seems to be a bigger grille, no longer protrudes into the bonnet.
The fog lamps were repositioned in the
front bumper and the lower grille is wider. The profile looks largely the same,
though the slightly arched roofline now ends with a bigger spoiler. The LED
taillights are also new, but we cannot really tell what shape they have yet.
The reflectors are mounted further down and the license plate holder has been
moved from the bumper to the tailgate.
Like the Qashqai, the new Kadjar might
have a slightly bigger overall footprint that will translate into improved
interior space and cargo capacity. We’ve yet to see any images of the interior,
but it should feature an entirely new dashboard, steering wheel, infotainment
system, digital instrument cluster and additional tech.
The CMF-C platform supports
electrification, though details surrounding the powertrains are unknown. Still,
there is a good chance that it might launch with some of the units from the new
Qashqai, which comes with a 1.3-liter mild-hybrid, with 138 and 156 HP, and a
1.5-liter self-charging hybrid with 188 HP.
