Coinciding with its unveiling for Japan, Subaru has introduced a series of original STI accessories for the new generation BRZ. The front-engined, rear-wheel drive 2+2 sports coupe can be specified with a more aggressive front spoiler lip and reworked bumper side trim that incorporates a pair of LED strips.

Side skirt attachments are part of the offering, and so are the ‘STI’ logos that adorn the front fenders, rear diffuser attachment and another part added to the roof, right above the rear windscreen. Customers will also have to decide whether they want the boot lid spoiler or a large wing, and the optional BBS 18-inch wheels with STI center caps. A flexible V bar increases the car’s rigidity up front and a new performance muffler with STI branded pipes that may add a few extra horses, round out the package.

Speaking of power, we will remind you that the JDM-spec 2022 BRZ has 232 HP and 250 Nm of torque available on tap, produced by a 2.4-liter naturally aspirated flat-four engine. That is identical to the new Toyota GR 86, which needs 6.3 seconds for the 0-100 km/h sprint, a 1.1 second improvement over its predecessor.

North America’s 2022 BRZ is offered with 228 HP and will launch this fall. Pricing details will be announced in due course, but it should be a bit more expensive than the 205 HP first-gen that is currently accompanied by an MSRP of US$ 28,845, excluding destination and delivery.
