Subaru introduced the 2022 Outback Wilderness last month and now the company has announced pricing will begin at US$ 36,995. Sitting near the top of the range, the off-road focused wagon features a unique grille as well as special bumpers that maximize approach and departure angles. The model also has a matte black hood decal, a front skid plate and unique wheel arch cladding.

The special touches don’t end there as the wagonover has unique fog lights, an exclusive roof rack and 17-inch matte black wheels wrapped in Yokohama Geolandar all-terrain tires. Of course, the most notable change is the lifted suspension that provides 241 mm of ground clearance.

Moving into the cabin, drivers will find power front seats trimmed in water-repellant StarTex upholstery. They also feature copper contrast stitching and embossed Wilderness logos on the headrests. Other highlights include alloy pedals, gunmetal grey accents and an 11.6-inch infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Buyers will also find a dual-zone automatic climate control system and all-weather floor mats with Wilderness logos.

Power comes from a turbocharged 2.4-liter engine that produces 260 hp and 376 Nm of torque. It’s backed up by a modified continuously variable transmission and a symmetrical all-wheel drive system. In other news, Subaru announced pricing and minor updates to the 2022 Outback and Legacy. The sedan starts at US$ 22,995 and now comes standard with 17-inch alloy wheels, which used to cost US$ 350. This more than offsets the US$ 100 price increase. The Outback sees prices climb US$ 150 to US$ 26,945. However, all trims now come equipped with LED fog lights.

Additional changes are limited, but Premium trims now feature rear air vents. Likewise, the Legacy Sport gains a power moonroof and an assortment of driver assistance systems including Blind-Spot Detection with Lane Change Assist, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert and Reverse Automatic Braking.
