The third generation Porsche Cayenne is already four years old, which can only mean one thing; that the German car firm is working on a mid-cycle refresh that should keep it on the competitive side of the segment for a few more years.
Set to launch next year, the spies caught
two different prototypes of the 2023MY Cayenne. The first one sported a
redesigned lower center console along with a new automatic gear shifter hiding
in a temporary box, which has the same stubby design as on the latest 911. This
specific tester also had the new arrangement for the heater controls. The
second tester was not equipped with the new 911-style gear lever shown, but it did feature a new fully digital instrument panel and a
larger infotainment screen.
Another prototype the spies spotted during the same run had a mixture of old
and new inside, including the new fully digital dials without the traditional
tachometer in the middle and a larger infotainment screen but the current
automatic gear shifter.
Moving on to the outside, the front end
looks similar to another prototype spied back in February, but while that one
had a new back end, with temporary taillights and license plate holder moved
from the tailgate to the bumper, this one retains the design of the current
Cayenne.
We wouldn’t expect any major upgrades in
the powertrain family, but some units might be tweaked in order to become less
polluting. We’ll get back to the engine lineup as soon as we have something
solid to work with, and in the meantime, we’ll leave you in the company of the
latest scooped prototype.
