Alfa Romeo is setting up the international dynamic debut event of the new Giulia GTAm, which will take place at Imola on Sunday, April 18, during the second round of the 2021 F1 World Championship. The new Alfa Romeo Giulia GTAm, which will be presented in the brand’s classic red livery, already visited the pit lane for a photo opportunity alongside Alfa Romeo F1 drivers Kimi Räikkönen and Antonio Giovinazzi.
Both drivers have participated in the
development of the Giulia GTAm, helping Alfa Romeo to fine-tune its most
aggressive and powerful product in decades. In addition, the Italian carmaker
has collaborated with the Sauber Engineering Team for some of the model’s
technical features, including the center-locking 20-inch alloy wheels, and
various carbon-fiber parts.
The new Alfa Romeo Giulia GTAm is the even
more hardcore variant of the Giulia GTA, featuring things like a more
aggressive aero kit with a larger front splitter and a giant carbon-fiber rear
wing, a rear bench delete, a roll bar, no door panels, and straps instead of
regular door handles for that ultimate race-car-for-the-road feeling.
The twin-turbo 2.9-liter V6 engine has
been upgraded to produce 532 HP instead of the Quadrifoglio’s 503 HP and is accompanied by a model-specific Akrapovic exhaust system for an
“unmistakable” soundtrack. While
Alfa Romeo hasn’t released the full
figures yet for the GTAm, it says that the slightly less mad Giulia GTA will
hit 100 km/h from a standstill in just 3.6 seconds, thanks to a new
Launch Control and a comprehensive diet that removed 100 kg out of
its weight figure.
Alfa Romeo is going to build just 500
examples of the new Giulia GTA and GTAm combined.
