Set to be joined by the new Levante Hybrid that recently broke cover at the 2021 Shanghai Auto Show, the Maserati Ghibli Hybrid has been launched in Australia. The electrified variant of the brand’s executive sedan is on sale from AU$ 139,990, excluding on-road costs (US$ 108,671).
Power is supplied by a 2.0-liter
turbocharged four-cylinder engine, backed up by a 48-volt alternator, an
electric supercharger and a rear-mounted battery. The maximum output and torque
are rated at 330 HP and 450 Nm. The model has an eight-speed
automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive, takes 5.7 seconds to accelerate to
100 km/h and tops out at 255 km/h. The average fuel
consumption is 8.5-9.6 l/100 km (27.7-24.5 mpg US) on the WLTP test cycle, and
it emits between 192 and 216 g/km of CO2.
To tell the 2021 Ghibli Hybrid apart from
the rest of the range, one will have to look for the tweaked grille, with
tuning fork-like designed bars, and the redesigned taillights, with
boomerang-like profile inspired by the 3200 GT and the Alfieri concept. There
are blue accents on the three side air ducts, C-pillar badge and brake calipers
too, a signature feature of Maserati’s entire electrified vehicle lineup.
The same shade also appears in the cabin,
particularly on the embroidered seams of the seats, which otherwise features a
new infotainment system with a display that has grown from 8.4 to 10.1 inches
and a new instrument panel with revised graphics.
