MG has unveiled the Cyberster concept, ahead of its debut at the Shanghai Auto Show. Created to showcase the brand’s “sporting aspirations while exploring the possibilities of a future sports car,” the Cyberster is a sleek roadster that incorporates a number of cues from the iconic MGB.
Starting up front, the model has a
curvaceous hood and Magic Eye headlights that “open” when turned on. The
concept also has an aerodynamic front bumper that presumably channels air out
the wheel wells to cool the brakes.
Moving further back, we can see a short
windscreen with a minimalist frame. The model also has aerodynamic side skirts
and LED “laser belts” that cut through the front fenders and doors. Other
highlights include muscular rear haunches, stylish rollover hoops and massive
wheels wrapped in Michelin tires. Out back, there’s an angular “kamm tail” with
an illuminated MG logo. The model also sports Union Jack-inspired LED
taillights and a large diffuser.
MG was coy on specifications, but
confirmed the concept rides on an all-electric architecture and has a range of 800 km. The model also features 5G connectivity as well as a 0-100 km/h time of less than three seconds.
