Citroen has released the first teaser video of the redesigned C5. Set to debut on April 12th, the C5 will be a segment bender that blurs the line between crossovers, wagons and hatchbacks. That being said, the model promises to be interesting and it will feature a prominent grille that flows into LED lighting units. We can also see a sculpted hood and pronounced fenders.
Continuing further back, the model has
curvaceous bodywork and a thick rear pillar. The C5 also sports 3D taillights
and a prominent rear spoiler. There will also be an angular rear window and
upright rear end.
Citroen didn’t say much about the model,
but it’s expected to ride on the EMP2 platform which also underpins the Peugeot
508. Engine options could be shared between the two models and this means there
could be an assortment of different powertrains.
In the 508, there are 1.5- and 2.0-liter diesels producing between 129 hp and 175 hp. Customers can also get a 1.6-liter PureTech petrol that has outputs of 179 hp and 221 hp. The model is also available with a plug-in hybrid powertrain that consists of a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine, an electric motor and an 11.8 kWh battery pack. This gives the 508 a combined output of 222 hp and an electric-only range of up to 54 km.
