Ferrari has released the first official images of the hardcore 812 Superfast limited edition model, ahead of its full reveal on May 5. The name of the 812 Superfast’s new version will also be revealed on May 5, during a special live event that will be broadcasted on Ferrari’s social media channels.

The hardcore new Ferrari is powered by the latest evolution of their naturally aspirated V12 engine, which here produces 818 HP, making it the most powerful road-car engine the carmaker has ever offered. In addition, this beast of an engine can rev up to an almost unbelievable 9,500 rpm, also making it the highest-revving road-legal Ferrari ever made.

The naturally aspirated V12 engine of the hardcore 812 has been upgraded from the ‘regular’ Ferrari 812 Superfast with many redesigned components, as well as a new valve timing mechanism, and a new exhaust system with square tips, in order to offer ‘unprecedented’ performance levels in the V12 segment.

In true Ferrari fashion, the chassis has also been thoroughly updated for better handling and an even more exciting experience behind the wheel. Although Ferrari didn’t go into detail about the revisions, it says that they have fitted “independent steering on all four wheels”, which will make the yet-unnamed 812 feel more agile and precise under cornering and make it even more responsive to steering inputs. Ferrari’s new beast will also debut version 7.0 of the Side Slip Control vehicle dynamics system.

One of the most striking aspects of this new 812 is the almost completely new bodywork, which was shaped by “in-depth aerodynamic research” in close synergy with the Ferrari Styling Center. The redesign of the model’s skin was driven by Ferrari’s goal to maximize downforce levels and that includes the new front air intakes, the huge rear diffuser, and exhaust tip setup, as well as the patented design of the rear screen, which replaces the glass for a single-piece aluminum structure and features vortex generators. Thanks to the extensive use of lightweight materials, like carbon fiber, Ferrari has made its latest V12 model lighter than the 812 Superfast, without revealing any numbers.

In addition, the new bonnet features a transversely-mounted carbon-fiber blade that together with the aluminum rear screen changes the overall perception of the 812’s volumes, according to Ferrari, making the bonnet look shorter and the whole car wider. The rear screen also gives the car a more compact look.

The interior of the new limited edition 812 retains the main dash of the regular Superfast but it comes with redesigned door panels for less weight and introduces the latest H-gate gear selector on the tunnel, a feature that debuted with the Roma. Ferrari will fully reveal the new limited edition 812 on May 5.
