Changzhou-based Chinese electric two-wheelers manufacturer NIU has launched a new electric kick scooter. The scooter happens to be the brand’s first electric kick scooter, having mastered the art of manufacturing affordable electric mopeds. The scooter is expected to be available in China, Europe, and North America this summer.
NIU Electric kick scooter is unveiled in
two variants – a Pro model and a Sport model. Both models come with varying
specs in different markets and that is due to prevailing regulations. The NIU
Electric Kick Scooter Pro features a top speed of 19.8 mph in the US while the
Electric Kick Scooter Sport will arrive with a top speed of 17.4 mph. The top
speed for the Pro variant in Europe is reduced to 25 km/h due to local
regulations.
On the whole, the NIU Electric Kick
Scooter Pro has a range of 50 km on a single full charge that’ll take
up to 7.5 hours to accomplish. On the other hand, the Sport model has a range
of 40 km on a single charge. The NIU Electric Kick Scooter Sport
will charge from zero to full in about 5.5 hours.
The drivetrain of the Electric Kick
Scooter Pro includes a 350W motor which is powered by a 486Wh lithium-ion
battery pack. On the other hand, the NIU Electric Kick Scooter Sport packs a
300W motor and 365Wh battery pack. The two models arrive with some level of
water resistance which allows its use in the rain and feature regenerative
braking. They are also foldable and support app connectivity using Bluetooth.
Talking of the prices, the NIU Electric
Kick Scooter Pro adopts a starting price tag of US$ 599. The company is yet to
unveil the prices of the different variants. The models are expected to open
