The trends in car exterior design have distinctly shifted from utilitarian to abstract lately, wouldn’t you agree? Take the crossover concept that debuted at the 2021 Auto Shanghai show in China: its thin LED headlights with bulky corner lamps are weird enough as is, but then there’s the grille.
SAIC Motor Company calls its latest
creation the Roewe Yuejing. The later word stands for ‘whale’, which explains
the grille, the color choice and the overall proportions of the vehicle.
Interestingly enough, the company assures
us it’s not just another design study, but rather a production car slated to
arrive later this year. We don’t know much about its powertrain range, except
that it will include traditional ICE engines and plug-in hybrids. There will be
no all-electric version, according to SAIC.
