Customers in Europe may opt for a high-riding Toyota Corolla Trek clad in a black body kit, but those in Japan had to make do without a mildly off-roading wagon – until now.
The new version is called Touring Active
Ride, and it comes with black side mirrors, wheels, roof rails, side sills, and
top covers. want. Exterior paint options include white, black, and khaki, and
you can specify a black roof for any of these. The interior stays stock except
for a darker trim scheme with orange stitching for contrast.
Toyota says the car benefits from
suspension improvements, although the ride height remains the same and the
drive stays on the front axle. A two-liter petrol engine hits the wheels with
170 PS and 202 Nm through a CVT.
Customers in Japan had an opportunity to
grab a Corolla with this engine only once, when the Touring 2000 Limited
Edition hit the showrooms in a series of just 500 units a year ago. The Touring
Active Ride will likewise be limited to 500 total units starting from the
equivalent of US$ 24,000.
