Hyundai has released two teaser images of the tiny AX1 SUV that will be unveiled later this year. The spy photographers snapped the AX1 during testing in February. It is being developed exclusively for the Indian market and will sit below the Venue small SUV.

These teaser images reveal that the AX1 will feature simple round headlights and circular LED daytime running lights, much like the Honda e. However, it will also sport additional LED lights just above this circular headlamp. As for the second teaser, it offers us a look at the complex LED taillight of the AX1 that is made up of lots of little triangles.

Underpinning the small SUV will be Hyundai’s K1 platform that is also used by the Grand i10 Nios sold in India. As such, the AX1 is expected to be between 3.7 and 3.8 meters long and, based on recent spy shots, will have a boxy and upright design with angular pillars and a flat roofline.

It is reported that the AX1 will be sold with a 1.1-liter engine that’s good for 68 hp and 99 Nm of torque and will be coupled to either a five-speed manual transmission or a five-speed automatic. Moreover, a second, more powerful engine could also be offered in the form of a 1.2-liter petrol unit with 82 hp and 113 Nm.
