The range-topping 2022 Nissan Leaf e+ has just touched down in Australia with prices starting from AU$ 60,490. Like overseas models, the Leaf e+ sold Down Under is equipped with a 62 kWh battery pack that offers an extra 22 kWh of capacity over the standard 40 kWh unit of the entry-level Leaf. The larger battery is also 25 per cent more energy dense and provides the EV with a driving range of 385 km on the WLTP combined cycle, an additional 115 km compared to the standard model.
The Leaf e+ features a single electric
motor that produces 215 hp and 340 Nm of torque, allowing
it to hit 100 km/h in a mere 6.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 158
km/h. Nissan has also equipped the Leaf e+ with a 100 kW peak Quick
Charging system that means its battery can be topped up from 20 per cent to 80
per cent in 45 minutes. The EV also features bi-directional charging that means
energy from the battery pack can also be returned back to a home or other
premises when required.
“The Nissan LEAF is one the world’s most
popular electric vehicle, the new Nissan LEAF e+ will only further that appeal
by delivering more of what our customers love about their EV,” Nissan Australia
managing director Stephen Lester said in a statement. “With more power, more
range and more performance, as well as full bi-directional charging capability,
the e+ is simply more LEAF, and helps ensure there really is an EV to suit
every need in Australia. From zero-emissions commuting in the city to weekends
away and everything in-between, the Nissan LEAF and LEAF e+ have you covered”.
