If you’ve ever wondered what a modern day version of the Ramcharger would look like, wonder no more as Hennessey has announced the Mammoth 1000 SUV which it is teasing through a single render. Based on the Ram 1500 TRX, the Mammoth 1000 is being billed as an “ultra-exclusive” SUV that features “supercar slaying” performance.
While the TRX is no slouch as its
supercharged 6.2-liter V8 produces 702 hp and 880
Nm of torque, that isn’t enough for the mad men at Hennessey. As a result,
they’ll equip the engine with an upgraded supercharger, high-flow fuel
injectors, an optimized air induction system, new catalytic converters and a
special HPE calibration.
Thanks to all these changes, the output
will rise to 1,012 hp and 1,314 Nm of torque.
This should enable the model to rocket from 0-96 km/h in 3.2 seconds
and run the quarter mile in 11.4 seconds at 193 km/h. Both are major
improvements over the truck’s times of 4.5 seconds and 12.9 seconds at 174 km/h.
Of course, the performance changes are
only part of the story as the truck gets transformed into a seven-seat SUV. As
part of the makeover, the model will be equipped with bespoke bodywork, an
extended roofline and a sizeable rear window. Inside, there will be second-row
captain’s chairs and a folding third-row bench.
If those changes weren’t drastic enough,
the model will be outfitted with a heavy duty front bumper, a 2.5 inch (64 mm)
lift kit and 20-inch wheels wrapped in 35-inch off-road rubber. Buyers will
also find LED auxiliary lights and a front suspension leveling kit. CEO John
Hennessey called the Mammoth 1000 the “king of SUVs” and noted it will give
“customers the ultimate combination of space, power and exclusivity.” Speaking
of which, production will be limited to 20 units and pricing will start at US$ 375,000 (£ 269,612 / € 310,388).
