Maserati has teamed up with Chinese fashion brand CANOTWAIT_ to unveil the new Ghibli Hybrid Love Audacious. Born out of the company’s Fuoriserie customization program, the limited edition features an eye-catching Digital Aurora paint job that has a “blend of burned decisive purple with calming and relaxing bluish hints.” This is designed to recall sunrise and “magical Aurora light.”
The paint is applied in three coats and
features “experimental pink glass flakes” that create a “digital effect riding
the current Phigital trend.” Maserati also claimed the purple-ish exterior adds
a “feather-light touch of mystery and rarity.” Putting aside the marketing
hyperbole, the Ghibli Hybrid Love Audacious is also equipped with CANOTWAIT_
badges and 20-inch wheels with a Dark Miron finish.
The special edition was introduced on May
20th and the company noted 520 is a “set of Chinese love numbers,” which mean
“I love you.” It remains to been seen if consumers will love the car, but
production will be limited to eight units and the Ghibli Hybrid Love Audacious
will be exclusive to China.
Since the special edition is little more
than a paint and badge job, the model features a familiar turbocharged
2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and a 48 volt hybrid system. The latter has a
Belt Starter Generator, which acts as an alternator and recovers energy during
braking and deceleration. That energy is fed into a battery and used to power
an electric supercharger known as an eBooster.
All told, the Ghibli Hybrid produces 325
hp and 450 Nm of torque. This enables the sedan
to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 5.7 seconds and hit a top speed of 255 km/h.
