Mazda actually turned 100 last year, but decided not to dwell too much on the fact. Instead, it will be issuing a limited Century Edition for well-off customers in Russia. The models obtainable in the Century Edition include the Mazda6, the CX-5 and the CX-9. All three ship in the top Executive spec and wear white on the outside.
Special logos adorning the hubcaps, the headrests and the ignition key harken back to the original Mazda logo that Yujiro Matsuda designed as far back as 1920, when his company was still called Toyo Cork Kogyo Co. The emblem symbolizes a unity between the planet, engineering, and industrialization. Captions reading ‘100 Years 1920–2020’ can be found on the front fenders and floor mats.
Other than that, the interior is predominantly black and white, but the seats come wrapped in red Nappa leather, and the mats are red as well.
The special Mazda6 for Russia comes with only one powertrain, specifically a 2.5-liter engine rated at 194 PS. The CX-5 is additionally available with a 2.0-liter engine good for 150 PS, while the CX-9 only ships with a 2.5-liter turbo capable of 231 PS. The transmission is six-speed automatic in all cases and drives either the front axle (sedan) or both (SUV).
