Mark your calendars, because the pre-orders are opening on the brand new, all-electric Kia EV6 on June 3 at 7:00 AM Eastern, 10:00 AM Pacific – even though the Koreans have yet to announce pricing. The first model offered will appropriately be the First Edition, with customers placing a $100 fully refundable deposit. Just 1,500 of the cars will be offered in limited edition color combinations. Buyers can choose from Urban Yellow (a First Edition-exclusive color) with black seats, Glacier white with dark green seats (a First Edition exclusive combo), and Steel Gray Matte with black seats.
The door sills will also be illuminated
with a “First Edition” designation and a numbered interior badge, to highlight
the limited nature of the trim. You will also get a 14-speaker Meridian audio
system, a sunroof, and an augmented reality heads-up display that projects
things like navigation instructions onto the windshield to make them look like
they’re on the road.
Powering the EV6 along will be a
dual-motor system spinning all four wheels with energy coming from a 77.4 kWh
battery. Kia estimated that the driving range is 300 miles and while the power
output is rated at 313 HP. Along with the standard advanced driver aids you’d
expect from a car like this one, the First Edition model also comes with Remote
Smart Parking Assist and it rides on 20-inch wheels.
And if all that isn’t enough, Kia is also
offering pre-orderers the option of picking one of three free gifts to go with
their new car. Buyers can opt for an at-home charger, a credit to be used at
public chargers around the country, or an Apple Watch that can connect to the
EV6’s suite of connected services.
Deliveries of the Kia EV6 First Edition
are expected to begin in Q1 2022.
