The latest helping of spy photos made on a public road in the United States seem to confirm rumors that the Toyota Corolla Cross will go into production there in the fall.

Despite the name, the model looks little like the latest Corolla as we know it: the front fascia incorporates two grilles located one over another, and the headlights are much more rounded than those of the standard Corolla. The side profile looks simple enough, while the roof is slightly sloped so as not to come across as flat.

No powertrain specifications are known at this date, but in Thailand, the Corolla Cross ships with a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine good for 140 PS and 175 Nm of torque. A CVT delivers the momentum to the front axle. There is also a part-electric hybrid version for those interested.
