Earlier this week, we reported that Ford would be revealing the Maverick in the first half of June. It seems that time has come very early on in that window, as they have now confirmed that the compact pickup truck will be unveiled on June 8.

The event will be broadcast all of across Ford’s social media channels as well as on Hulu, and will be presented by actress Gabrielle Union. Union will also be showing off the truck on her own Instagram and TikTok accounts as well.

According to sources reporting to Automotive News, suppliers have been told to prepare for annual volumes of up to 110,000 units, which is about 14% of how many F-150s were sold in 2020, but is actually around 8% greater than the amount of Rangers sold that same year. The truck is expected to enter production in late July and go on sale later in the year.

As mentioned in earlier reports, The Maverick will ride on the same C2 platform as Ford’s Escape and Bronco Sport, and Lincoln’s Corsair. It will be built in Ford’s Hermosillo factory, and according to Automotive News, Ford has told dealers that pricing for the truck will start at less US$ 20,000.

Maverick buyers will have the option of two turbocharged engines: a 1.5-liter three-cylinder with 181 hp and 258 Nm of torque, and a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 245 hp and 373 Nm of torque. All Mavericks will come standard with front wheel drive, but all wheel drive will be available as an option, and all versions will have an 8-speed automatic transmission.
