Kia’s award-winning Telluride is getting a modest makeover for 2022. Looking instantly recognizable, the range-topping crossover receives a lightly revised grille with all-new Kia badging. Additional changes are limited, but Kia’s new logo can also be found on the liftgate.
Moving into the cabin, all trims gain a Navigation-Based Smart Cruise Control-Curve system. It automatically slows down the vehicle as it approaches a bend in the road. Furthermore, the entry-level LX and S trims gain additional standard equipment including an automatic climate control system, highway driving assist and a 10.25-inch infotainment system with GPS navigation. The latter replaces the previous 8-inch display, which used to come standard on the base model.
Unfortunately, the updates are accompanied by price increases as the 2022 Telluride LX starts at US$ 32,790. That’s US$ 600 more than last year’s model, but it’s not bad considering the additional equipment. Likewise, the 2022 Telluride S will now cost you US$ 35,290 which is an increase of US$ 700. Lastly, the EX and SX trims see a price increase of US$ 200.
Regardless of which trim is selected, all Tellurides are powered by a 3.8-liter V6 engine that produces 291 hp and 355 Nm of torque. It’s connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission, which can be paired to an optional all-wheel drive system for an additional US$ 2,000 on most trims.
Speaking of the powertrain, front-wheel drive variants have an EPA estimated fuel economy rating of 20 mpg city, 26 mpg highway and 23 mpg combined. That drops to 19 mpg city, 24 mpg highway and 21 mpg combined with all-wheel drive.
