Opel and sister company in the UK, Vauxhall, have taken the wraps off the facelifted 2022 Grandland. Looking far more modern, the updated crossover adopts a new Vizor grille that is flanked by adaptive IntelliLux LED Pixel Lights. They’re joined by a sportier front bumper, which echoes the one used on the Mokka. Moving inside the cabin, there’s a new “Pure Panel” which features up to a 12-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10-inch infotainment system. The model has also been equipped with a new dashboard, a revised center console and a minimalist shifter.
The companies didn’t go into many specifics, but noted the crossover can be equipped with ergonomic active seats with heating and ventilation. Customers can also get a wireless smartphone charger and a Multimedia Navi Pro system that features real-time traffic information, online map updates as well as predictive navigation. On the safety front, there are several new features including a Night Vision system that uses an infrared camera to detect people and animals up to 100 meters away. When they are detected in the direction of travel, drivers will be warned and their position will be highlighted.
The Grandland can also be equipped with a new Highway Integration Assist semi-autonomous driving system. It uses camera and radar sensors to keep the crossover centered in its lane and a set distance from the vehicle ahead. The system can bring the crossover to a halt and automatically resume moving when traffic starts flowing again. Other safety features include a 360° camera system, automatic parking assistant and blind spot warning. Drivers will also find front collision warning with automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, traffic sign recognition and drowsiness detection.
Opel and Vauxhall didn’t mention performance specifications, but they confirmed the Grandland will be offered with petrol and diesel engines as well as plug-in hybrid powertrains. This seems to suggest options will carryover, but we’ll find out soon enough as pricing will be announced in a few weeks.
