The compact-sized crossover SUV formerly known as the Progetto 363 will now be officially called the Fiat Pulse, as follows from the results of a poll recently conducted in Brazil. The local Fiat office offered customers to pick a name for the new model themselves from three options: Domo, Pulse, and Tuo. A total of 380,000 votes came in, Pulse leading the way with 65%, Domo coming second with 25% and Tuo rounding things off with 10%.
The new badge will be placed on the tailgate. The car has only been revealed on teaser shots so far, with what looks like LED-based lighting all around. As for the wheels, those hardly measure more than 15 inches across. Unofficial reports are coming in that the new CUV utilizes the MLA platform, has 2,532 mm of wheelbase, and is otherwise similar to the Argo hatchback. The latter uses the MP1 chassis, whereas Stellantis has mainly been promoting its CMP architecture lately.
Rumor has it entry-level engine will be naturally aspirated with 1.3 liters of displacement, 109 PS and 139 Nm of torque. A five- or six-speed manual transmission will allegedly deliver the power to the wheels. A 1.0-liter gas/ethanol three-pot will produce 128 PS and 206 Nm in tandem with an Aisin CVT.
Sales in South America should begin in October or close to that month. Once the Fiat Pulse reaches the market, it will face competition from the Chery Tiggo 3x, Honda WR-V, and VW Nivus a.k.a. Taigo.
