Since June 4, Nissan Motor Company is accepting pre-orders for its first-ever electric crossover SUV, the Ariya. The only trim level available right now is Limited, which costs between 6.6 and 7.9 million Yen. Customers can go for a single-motor/RWD spec rated at 218 PS or 242 PS depending on the battery model. This version needs 7.5-7.6 seconds to get from standstill to 100 km/h and maxes out at 160 km/h.
An alternative comes in the form of a dual-motor/AWD spec that can produce 340 PS or 394 PS depending on the battery. This one sprints in 5.1-5.4 seconds and tops out at 200 km/h. The standard battery stores up to 66 kilowatt-hours of power and runs dry after 360 kilometers. The premium 91-kWh option yields 480 km.
Buyers of the Limited Edition gain access to a package named ProPilot 2.0 complete with a system called ProPilot Remote Parking. There are five exterior finishes to choose from. The wheels measure 19 inches across by default, there is a glass sunroof, leather in the cabin, and a ten-channel Bose audio system. Other trims should become available in Japan during the summer.
At 4,595 mm long with 2,775 mm between the axles, the Nissan Ariya comes closest to the X-Trail as far as the dimensions are concerned.
