The black-out fad has reached China at last: SAIC Group’s R Auto has unveiled a special edition of its ER6 battery sedan called the Black Samurai. On the outside, the car sports red stripes between its headlights and taillights, as well as badges of the same color. Red stitching adorns the seats and the dashboard inside. The Zebra Smart Line Venus infotainment system stays in place, but benefits from a major UX overhaul many users have asked for.

Things stay unchanged on the mechanical side of things. A single electric motor generates 184 PS and 280 Nm of torque, while a traction battery grants the car up to 620 kilometers of manufacturer-claimed range. Prices vary from 162,800 Yuan for the base trim to 200,000 Yuan for the top trim.

The R Auto brand was founded last year specifically for all-electric cars. Until recently, the ER6 sedan was its only model, but a battery crossover SUV named Marvel R joined the lineup not long ago. By the way, the same car should eventually appear on the market of Europe, but with MG branding this time around.
