Volvo introduced the C40 Recharge earlier this year and a new report suggests it will be joined by an even smaller electric crossover. Little is known about the model at this point, but Car Magazine says it will be a B-segment crossover that could adopt either the XC20 or XC30 moniker.

The model will reportedly compete with relatively mainstream crossovers including the Ford Puma, Peugeot e-2008 and Opel / Vauxhall Mokka-e. However, it’s probably safe to assume the XC20 or XC30 would be a bit more luxurious and carry a heftier starting price.

Performance specifications remain a mystery, but the entry-level crossover is expected to be offered exclusively with an electric powertrain as Volvo is going electric-only by 2030. That being said, the XC20 / XC30 could be front-wheel drive only as the publication suggests it will only have a single electric motor up front. That could limit the model’s appeal, but the Mokka-e is also front-wheel drive only.

If everything pans out, the model will reportedly be launched in 2023. While a lot of questions remain, Volvo CEO HÃ¥kan Samuelsson has previously said the crossover will ride on Geely’s Sustainable Experience Architecture.
