Hot on the heels of the new BMW 2-Series debut, the German configurator for the coupe has been released. The configurator gives shoppers, or those simply dreaming of owning a new BMW, the chance to choose between the 220i Coupe and M240i xDrive Coupe variants, as well as the diesel 220d Coupe. After selecting your preferred engine, you can then choose between seven different colors and shades.
Naturally, Alpine White is the only standard paint finish as all of the other available colors, including Melbourne Red and Portimao Blue, add € 750 to the car’s MSRP. Similarly, there is also just one standard wheel option available with the three other 19-inch options commanding € 450, € 650, and € 1,500 respectively.
A host of different interior configurations are available from tan-colored leather through to black, red, white, and grey leather options. To make a statement, we have gone with the red, even though it doesn’t suit the blue paint very well. Dozens of optional extras are also available through the configurator.
In the United States, the new 2-Series is available in 230i and M240i xDrive Coupe forms. The first of these models features a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 255 hp and 400 Nm of torque and coupled to an eight-speed automatic transmission sending it to 96 km/h in 5.5 seconds. By comparison, the M240i xDrive Coupe has a 3.0-liter TwinPower Turbo six-cylinder delivering 382 hp and 500 Nm of torque. It too has an eight-speed automatic and can hit 60 mph in 4.1 seconds.
