The all-new 2023 Ford Everest has been spied testing for the very first time and looks like it will be quite a departure from the outgoing model. This particular prototype was snapped near Dearborn, Michigan and the headlights have a very similar lobster-claw shape to those that will be used by the new Ford Ranger which is also just around the corner. These new headlights will provide Everest with significantly more road presence than the current SUV and will be joined by an overhauled front grille and bumper.
Viewed from the side, the new Ford Everest appears more upright than its predecessor but has near-identical window frames. It also features prominent side steps and this prototype is rocking gloss black wheels wrapped in Goodyear tires. The presence of heavy camouflage across the rear of the 2023 Everest makes it difficult to determine what changes have been made but we suspect there are new taillights and a reshaped bumper.
Like the current Ford Everest, the next-generation model will share its underpinnings, and many other parts, with the 2023 Ford Ranger. As such, the pair should be offered with the same engines, and depending on the market, these are expected to include a twin-turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder diesel and a 3.0-liter turbo-diesel V6 coupled to a 10-speed automatic transmission.
Various interior upgrades will also be made. For example, high-end variants should be available with a digital instrument cluster and sport an infotainment system that supports over-the-air updates. The full gamut of safety tech can also be expected, including things like speed sign recognition, radar cruise control, blind-zone warning, and rear-cross traffic alert.
