The Apollo Intensa Emozione, aka IE, is one of the most remarkable hypercars ever created and one example has just touched down on U.S. shores. Capped at just 10 units worldwide, the Apollo IE has a design that makes rivals from Pagani, Koenigsegg, Bugatti seem tame. This particular example is known as the Carbon Dragon and is number 5 of just 10 units being built.
It has an exposed carbon fiber finish inspired by the original Apollo IE shown to the world a few years ago. It looks utterly extraordinary and it recently hit the Lime Rock Park circuit. In a world where so many supercars and hypercars are adopting forced induction, the Apollo IE represents a breath of fresh air as it features a Ferrari-derived 6.3-liter naturally aspirated V12 that pumps out 769 hp and 760 Nm of torque. This engine rocks a bespoke exhaust system and produces one of the finest soundtracks of any road-legal performance car.
Underpinning the hypercar is a carbon fiber chassis that was co-developed with HWA AG and Capricorn Group. This chassis also includes carbon subframes and crash structures and is so strong that it “partly exceeds respective FIA LMP2 safety requirements.” Unsurprisingly, it is also extraordinarily expensive, with customers having to cough up a minimum of US$ 2.71 million to get their hands on one. Buyers do have a plethora of options to choose from when creating their dream IE, which prompted one owner to opt for a multi-colored chameleon finish.
