A few days after a photo of a mysterious Aston Martin Valkyrie leaked online, the British car manufacturer has officially unveiled the new-and-improved Valkyrie AMR Pro. Aston Martin originally unveiled a concept of the Valkyrie AMR Pro at the Geneva Motor Show in 2018 but it has made a suite of comprehensive changes to it in getting it ready for production. In fact, Aston Martin says the finished AMR Pro shares its basic design with the Le Mans Hypercar that the Valkyrie was set to spawn, before the program was scrapped.
The car is much more than a standard Valkyrie with a new rear wing. In fact, it features a modified carbon fiber chassis that has seen the wheelbase grown by 380 mm. The car’s front track is also 96 mm wider while the rear track is 115 mm wider. A bold new aerodynamics package adds a further 266 mm to the track-only hypercar’s length. Key aerodynamic modifications include a more pronounced carbon fiber front splitter and reshaped front wheel arches and fins. There are also traditional wing mirrors as opposed to the cameras used by the road car, a prominent shark fin, a fixed rear wing and wheel covers. The Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR Pro “comfortably” produces more than twice the downforce of the Valkyrie road car and will be able to achieve lateral acceleration exceeding 3G.
Beneath the radical new bodywork, the car ditches the hybrid system of the road car and instead relies solely on the car’s 6.5-liter naturally-aspirated V12 developed by Cosworth. This engine revs to 11,000 rpm and pumps out 1,000 hp. Aston Martin says the Valkyrie AMR Pro will deliver “track performance approaching that of a Formula 1 car.” It is so fast that the carmaker says it can lap the Le Mans circuit in 3 minutes 20 seconds, roughly on par with LMP1 cars.
Those who buy an Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR Pro can attend a bespoke track day experience hosted by Aston Martin at various circuits around the world. Owners will also be able to participate in as many track days hosted by Aston Martin as they want and will also receive professional instruction, a VIP hosted dinner, and exclusive FIA racewear. Aston Martin Formula 1 drivers Sebastian Vettel and Lance Stroll will also help to develop the dynamic set-up of the car. Just 40 units of the Valkyrie AMR Pro will be built, including two prototypes. All examples will be left-hand drive and deliveries are scheduled to commence in Q4 this year.
