Audi’s flagship saloon, the A8, has been discovered running outdoors again nearly a year ahead of its supposed launch, so let us take a close look at it while we can. The body may be cladded in camo, but it seems obvious that the front and the rear ends will undergo major stylistic updates. Headlights, taillights, both bumpers and the radiator grille should all get their nip-and-tuck. As for the cabin, new trimming materials and décor elements are expected along with additional features and driving aids.

The powertrain palette will be amended with a few 48V mild hybrids offering high fuel efficiency and low emissions. The plug-in hybrid spec should also remain on offer.

We will learn more when the new A8 debuts at the IAA Munich expo this fall. Shipments should start next year, and the long-wheelbase A8 L should also make it to the market sooner or later. The fourth-gen Audi A8 has been in production for four years now
