Mark your calendars because Lamborghini is set to announce something big. The Italian supercar manufacturer has just teased a new product with details coming on July 7. The teaser doesn’t reveal much but the distinctly Aventador-like lights would suggest that we should expect a new version of Lamborghini’s V12 supercar. The brand didn’t much anything either, but the sentence “It takes time to become timeless” would suggest that it’s working on a vehicle that already exists.

That combination of factors suggests that this could be the long-rumored final-edition Aventador. Spy footage captured in May showed a mysterious version of the Aventador testing that some have been calling the Aventador S Jota.

Rumor has it that the model will add an extra 10 HP to the SVJ’s 759 HP naturally aspirated V12. That would make it the brand’s most powerful Aventador to date. Spy photos have shown it without the SVJ’s big fixed wing, though, which could make for an exciting ride. In March of this year, Lamborghini promised to unveil two V12-based models by the end of the year and this would be the first. What Lamborghini has planned for the second model is unknown at this juncture.

At ten years old, though, the Aventador doesn’t have much longer left in Lamborghini’s lineup. An Autocar report, also from March, suggests that the follow-up to the Aventador is coming in 2022 and will feature a hybrid powertrain. Despite that, the car is expected to continue using a V12 because of the engine’s importance to the Lamborghini brand.
