Mercedes’ entry-level model is going under the knife as spy photographers have snapped new pictures of the facelifted A-Class. Looking instantly recognizable, the updated hatchback features a new front bumper and restyled headlights with a rounder design. The car has also been equipped with a revised grille and previous pictures have shown it will have a more conventional design with horizontal slats.
The rest of the model largely carries over, but the rear end will receive a handful of minor modifications. While details are hard to make out, we can expect a lightly modified bumper and new taillights. Spy photographers haven’t gotten a good look inside, but we can expect the usual mid-cycle updates. As a result, we wouldn’t be surprised to find an updated infotainment system, improved driver assistance systems, and possible changes to trim and upholstery options.
Engine options remain unconfirmed, but the A-Class recently saw its Renault-sourced 1.5-liter diesel replaced by a 2.0-liter unit that produces 114 hp and 280 Nm of torque. When paired to an automatic transmission, it enables the car to run from 0-100 km/h in 9.5 seconds and hit a top speed of 202 km/h.
We can also expect an assortment of familiar petrol options, although it’s possible the plug-in hybrid variant could be updated. The latter currently features a 1.3-liter four-cylinder engine and an electric motor that produce a combined output of 215 hp and 450 Nm of toque.
