Nissan has announced a brand new electric crossover destined for global markets that will be built in the UK with a production of up to 100,000 units per year. From the £ 1 billion (US$ 1.4 billion) investment, up to £ 423 million (US$ 584 million) will be directed to the new model. It will be based on the CMF-EV platform that also underpins the Nissan Ariya and the upcoming Renault MéganE.

As we can see from the official teaser, the yet-unnamed crossover has a coupe-style roofline, large-diameter wheels, and incorporates Nissan’s new-generation styling with futuristic LED lights. It is expected to be more affordable than the larger Ariya, with new battery technology “making the switch to electric driving even more accessible”.

Finally, Nissan, in collaboration with the Sunderland City Council, will build a Microgrid saving 55,000 of carbon annually thanks to solar farms and a 1 MW battery storage facility made of used batteries.
