To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the passing of Pedro Rodriguez, Mexico’s most accomplished racecar driver and an important member of Porsche’s racing history, the company has produced a unique car to honor his memory. The 911 Turbo S was commissioned by Porsche Mexico and Porsche Latin America and is painted in Gulf Blue with an orange stripe, a reference to the Gulf liveried 917 KH that Rodriguez drove in the 1970 and 1971 World Championship of Makes (now known as the World Endurance Championship).

The wheels are painted in high-gloss black and feature an aluminum center lock, while the doors sport a black number 2 in a white circle. The names of the eight races Rodriguez won in the car are engraved under the rear spoiler. On the B-pillar, meanwhile, there’s a plaque that bears the silhouette of the Porsche 917 KH in the colors of the Mexican flag along with the driver’s signature. The same motif follows inside, in the carbon moldings on the lower door frames, along with the headrests that feature the 917 silhouette. The center armrest and the carbon fiber dashboard have Rodriguez’s signature, while the seats are finished in graphite blue with orange stitching.

Rounding out the design, the 911‘s key also features the driver’s signature and is finished in Gulf blue. Finally, the person who wins this car at auction will also get a bespoke luggage set that is finished in graphite blue with orange stitching. odriguez lost his life in July 1971 at the Norisring street circuit in Nuremberg but he cemented his legend by winning a Formula 1 Grand Prix, the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and the 24 Hours of Daytona four times.

The unique 911 Turbo S designed to celebrate Rodriguez’s life and victories is set to be auctioned off later this year, with proceeds going to a variety of charitable causes.
