The Hyundai Santa Fe lineup is expanding for 2022 as the company has introduced a rugged looking XRT variant. Based on the Santa Fe SEL with the Convenience Package, the XRT features plastic body cladding as well as dark silver skid plates. The changes don’t stop there as designers added a matte black grille, black mirror caps and black roof rails. They’re joined by side steps and exclusive 18-inch alloy wheels with a dark finish.

Hyundai didn’t have much else to say about the model, but it comes nicely equipped with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and an 8-inch infotainment system featuring wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Other highlights include heated front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a wireless smartphone charger and an eight-way power driver’s seat. Rounding out the highlights are a dual-zone automatic climate control system, a 4.2-inch multi-information display and a proximity key with a push button ignition.

On the safety front, there’s an assortment of driver assistance systems including Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist, Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist, and Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist with Pedestrian, Cyclist, and Junction Turning Detection. They’re joined by Lane Keeping Assist and Rear Occupant Alert.

Pricing starts at US$ 32,300 and the Santa Fe XRT is powered by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that develops 191 hp and 247 Nm of torque. It’s connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission, which can be paired to an optional all-wheel drive system for an additional US$ 1,700.
