The new BMW 5 Series has been running pre-production tests concealed under camouflage since July 2021, and now, Autocar claims it might know what the sedan hides under that skin. If the anonymous reports are to be believed, the new 5 Series will be initially available with an ICE engine and as a hybrid, with an all-electric spec set to follow later.

Autocar also mentions that the BMW M5 will become a plug-in hybrid EV. To that end, the Bavarian automaker will allegedly combine the standard twin-turbo V8 with a single electric motor rated at 200 PS or so. The resulting total may amount to 760 PS.
